  • John Dunford's last concert at St James's Church, Wetherby

    Our recent - and highly successful - performance of Dvorak's Stabat Mater was the last concert to be conducted by John Dunford at St James' Parish Church, Wetherby, after 32 years! We still have one more concert in this season, Mendelssohn's Elijah which takes place in Ripon Cathedral on June 21st, This will be a joint performance with John's other choir, Ripon Choral Society.

  • JOIN US NOW TO SING ELIJAH IN RIPON CATHEDRAL

    We start rehearsing Mendelssohn's Elijah on Monday 31st March. This is for our joint concert with Ripon Choral Society in Ripon Cathedral on Saturday 21 June. We welcome new singers now, and rehearse every Monday between now and the concert, with the exception of 14 and 21 April.

    If you would interested, just turn up at St James' by 7.15pm on a rehearsal evening. We can lend you a score and you can try us out for a few weeks before decididng wihether to join. Alternatively, you can contact our Membership Secretary, Christopher Gibbs, in advance by emailing memsec@wetherbychoral.org.uk

    We are delighted to announce that Charlie Murray will take up the post of Music Director with Wetherby Choral Society in September 2025. Charlie is Director of Choral Music at Halifax Minster, an accomplished soloist and a music teacher. John Dunford, our Music Director for the last 32 years, steps down in the summer. Charlie will be working closely with John over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition.
