Karl Jenkins:
The Armed Man

Saturday, September 29, 10.00am - 5pm
at St James' Church, Wetherby

This is your chance to sing this passionate and evocative work alongside members of Wetherby Choral Society under the inspirational leadership of our Music Director, John Dunford.

We would be delighted if you could join us.
Please read on for details about the event and how to book your place.

View or download the event flyer for your information or to pass on to others.

This event is open to anyone who would value the opportunity to sing this work, which is scored for SATB and will be performed with a piano accompaniment. Previous experience of choral singing is not essential, although it would be helpful.

We warmly welcome anyone to come along and enjoy the day with us, whether or not you are a member of another choral society or singing group.

Venue and car parking

The rehearsal and performance will take place at St James' Church, Church Street, Wetherby, LS22 6LP. Registration and refreshments will be in the Church Rooms (sometimes known as the Scout Hut) adjacent to the church.

The church has some car parking available for those with physical disabilities, but there is no general parking. Wetherby has a number of car parks, all of which are free, but some are time-limited. The Wilderness and Old Station car parks (all day parking) are probably the best bet, although they are about 6-10 minutes walk away. You could try the Cluster of Nuts car park, which is slightly nearer, but limited to 4 hours.

The parking at Morrisons is limited to 2 hours, and this is rigidly enforced by number-plate recognition technology, so it's probably best avoided.

Wetherby is served by a number of bus routes.

Tea and coffee will be available free of charge during the day.

For lunch, you can bring your own to eat in the Church Room; if the weather is good, there are plenty of places to sit outside. Alternatively, Wetherby has a wide variety of cafés and pubs to suit all tastes, or you can pick something up from Morrisons or Sainsburys nearby.

Music scores

Music scores will be provided, but if you have your own, please bring it with you.

If you want to mark the score, please do so with a soft lead pencil ONLY, please.
